Drinks and Milks

Easy Almond Mild

Ingredients

1.25 cups raw whole almonds

4 cups clean, filtered water

pinch of sea salt

Directions

  1. Soak almonds for about 8 hours in enough water to cover them.
  2. After the soak, drain and rinse the almonds.
  3. Place almonds in a high-powered blender (e.g. Vitamix or Blendtec).  Add about 4 cups clean water to the blender and blend vigorously until the mixture looks like milk.
  4. Using a nut-milk bag (or cheese cloth), pour the mixture into the bag, and gently but firmly squeeze the 'milk' into a bowl.   I recommend you do a little at a time!
  5. Pour the almond milk into a glass bottle, add a pinch or two of sea salt and store in the refrigerator for 5 - 7 days.
